Zoom Day – Dressy Top & Casual/PJ Bottoms

Stuff to Know
Congratulations to James Uchytil, an 8th grade violinist in orchestra, who auditioned and was accepted into the 2020-21 Michigan All State Orchestra.  Of over 1,400 students who auditioned throughout the state, James was one of the 32 violinists selected.  Congratulations also to Maya Griffin, who earned an honorable mention spot in the 2020/21 Michigan All-State Band on clarinet.  Students that audition and earn a spot are among the top musicians in the state!

Students interested in competing in Forensics (that’s public speaking and acting) this year should email Mr. Flip at bfilipowicz@mapsnet.org  and let him know.  The practices and competitions will be completely virtual and the categories in which you can compete will be limited.  The competition will be extremely limited as well due to low numbers at other schools.

In response to Governor Whitmer’s announcement on November 15th, we will be suspending all middle school athletics until December 9th.  This suspension will include all practices, scrimmages, and games.  Basketball pictures will be rescheduled for a later date.

Students interested in joining the Science Olympiad team this year need to email Mr. Erickson at lerickson@mapsnet.org and let him know.  This year’s Science Olympiad and practices will be held virtually.  The competition will be done online with a limited number of events, due to Covid-19 and restrictions in place at NMU.  Times for the competition are still to be determined, but virtual practice sessions will be starting after Thanksgiving.
