What kindergarten programs are being offered?
The Marquette Area Public Schools provides all day, every day kindergarten, and all day, and every day junior kindergarten. Junior kindergarten is not typically offered at all four of our buildings. A decision as to how many sections of junior kindergarten will be held and what buildings will have junior kindergarten will be made after the enrollment process has been completed.

What is the minimum age requirement for entering kindergarten?
According to Michigan Law (MCL 380.1147) Children are required to be five years old on or before December 1 of the school calendar year in which the child attends school.

What is the difference between the kindergarten and junior kindergarten program?
The junior kindergarten program was developed to give younger children more time to develop socially, emotionally and academically before entering kindergarten.

What transportation is provided?
The District provides transportation for kindergarten and junior kindergarten students enrolled all day who live outside the kindergarten walk area and attend their resident school.

How does the lunch process work?
Students in all day kindergarten and all day junior kindergarten attend lunch supervised by school staff, just as students in grades 1-5.

How does transportation work?
Bus transportation is available for children in the school’s attendance area who live outside the walk area.

What if I want to enroll my child in an elementary outside my boundary?
If you wish your child to attend another elementary school within the School District, you need to submit a completed In-District Transfer Request form by May 13.

Open-enrollment (non-resident students)
If you are a non-resident family wishing to enroll your student in Marquette Area Public Schools, you must submit a completed School of Choice Application by the September deadline.
