Happy National School Counseling Week! From February 2–6, we’re celebrating this year’s theme: Amplify.
We’ll be sharing posts all week about how our Bothwell counselors highlight student voices and help their potential grow. Our counselors are experts at "mic-dropping" some serious wisdom and support when students need it most. Check back daily to see how they help our students shine!

Yeti's, lunchboxes, and hoodies; oh my! We have lost and found items ready to be picked up by the gym lobby today and tomorrow for Parent Teacher Conferences.
As a reminder, conferences are 4:30-7:30 today and 12:00 -3:00, then 4:30 to 7:30 tomorrow. Students are released at 11:10 on Thursday and Friday. Bothwell Teachers look forward to seeing you and giving you updates on your student.

November is here tomorrow, and The Action for Happiness is encouraging you to try something new! See if you can do something new, even a couple times each week. This is one way we can keep our brains and bodies happy!

Our Lost and Found is overflowing with your student's items: notebooks, lunch boxes, hoodies, waterbottles, etc. Please encourage them to look for anything they cannot find at home. We will have items out at Parent Teacher Conferences on November 12th and 13th for families to look through, too.
Greetings from your school counselors!

Congratulations to the Bothwell Girl's 7th and 8th Grade Track Team. They finished first place in the UP Region 8 Track Meet!

Yesterday, our 8th grade students had the exciting opportunity to visit Northern Michigan University as the culminating event of their career and college exploration with Ms. Delpier and Ms. Teasley. During the visit, students toured the residence halls, participated in a collaborative learning experience in Jamrich Hall classrooms, and explored the Jacobetti Complex, where they learned about a variety of hands-on career paths.
Students also enjoyed lunch at the Northern Lights Dining Center, giving them a true taste of campus life. Upon their return to BMS, teachers noted that many students had enthusiastic conversations about potential college plans and career interests sparked by the visit.
We are incredibly grateful to Northern Michigan University for hosting our students and to the parents who volunteered their time to help make this experience possible. Opportunities like this leave a lasting impression and help inspire our students as they begin thinking about their futures.
We stumbled upon a few 5th grade camp photos and couldn’t resist the idea, so we recreated them at 7th grade camp! Same poses, same goofy smiles, new memories!
Swipe to see the then-and-now magic, proof that some things change, but camp traditions are forever.
Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Bancroft for making this happen!

Day 3 is in the books, and what a day and night it was! After a full day of adventures, our campers lit up the evening with the much-anticipated Neon Dance!
Glow sticks? Check. Face paint? Everywhere. Dance moves? Absolutely unforgettable. Great day spent at camp 🩷

It may have been a chilly day up at Bay Cliff, but our 7th graders brought the warmth with their enthusiasm, curiosity, and awesome attitudes!
From hands-on science activities to outdoor adventures, these students didn’t let the cooler weather slow them down. They asked great questions, worked together, and showed what learning outside the classroom is all about.
We’re so proud of how they’re embracing every moment at camp and we can’t wait for more fun tomorrow!

What an incredible kickoff to camp! The energy was high, the smiles were big, and the curiosity was contagious.
Bay Cliff Day #1 = success ❤️

Excellence in Education Day was held on April 29th at UP Health System–Marquette. Students from Bothwell Middle School were treated to an honorary luncheon and a program to acknowledge their excellence. The presentations included a Welcome by Peter Camili, VP of Physician Practices; Radiology (Pam Engle, Imaging); Trauma (Jodi McCollum, Trauma Program); Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology & Leadership (Jason Collins, Heart and Vascular); Careers in Heart and Vascular Services (Bob Kroll, Heart and Vascular); and Surgical Services (Beth Riley, Operating Room). A big thank you to UP Health System, the presenters and to Janell Larson, Market Director of Marketing & Communications, for making this a special day for the students. Excellence in Education Day is part of the Grow & Lead: Community and Youth Development Excellence in Education Week in Marquette and Alger Counties.
Congratulations to all of the students who were selected to attend because of their excellence!

Yesterday, our 8th grade students participated in our 2nd Annual Career Fair. Students first started with completing something called an Educational Development Plan that helps develop a career interest inventory, along with personality surveys, and career growth insights. We invited several businesses from the area to help students gain a broader insight to what may available to them as adults. Students met with Tia Trudgeon from TV6, Mike Smith from UP Construction Council, Ian Hutchens from Eagle Mine, Jessica Mariin owner of Fresh Coast Beauty, Tyler McCabe from Teaching Family Homes, Caitlin Ott and Ben Travis from MIDNR; our very own Ms. Delpier was able to stand in for a guest who was unable to attend, with a similar education background. Our students were attentive, extremely respectful, and engaged; our guests were happy with the questions asked and said the students were wonderful.
Big congratulations to Mr. Fitzpatrick!
This weekend, he was honored with the Michigan Historical Society Teacher of the Year Award for his outstanding work with the Michigan History Day program!
Mr. Fitzpatrick pours his heart into this project every year—going above and beyond to support our students and ensure the contest we host runs without a hitch. We’re so proud of his dedication and the way he brings history to life at our school.
Way to go, Mr. Fitz!
